Large Format Patio & Landscaping

A Kildare garden transformed from the ground up.

This was a full rear garden redesign — not just a patio, but a rethink of how the entire space was used. The previous layout had a narrow concrete strip running the length of the house and an expanse of lawn that the family rarely used. We flipped it: the patio now takes up the majority of the rear elevation, with a lawn panel beyond it.

The paving is 1200x600mm Italian porcelain — a format large enough that the joint pattern disappears at normal viewing distance. The tile has a slight texture which gives grip in wet weather without sacrificing the clean, contemporary look the client wanted. Laid on a full concrete sub-base with rapid-set adhesive bedding mortar for long-term stability.

Raised timber planters along the boundary fence were built on-site using sleeper timber, creating a layered effect that grounds the space. Perimeter lights set into the planters give the garden its evening mood. Three weeks from excavation to sign-off.
